I won’t bore you with every single detail of the event, instead I’ll discuss the main points brought up in the conversation.

During the beginning, I had asked him as to why he believed Christianity to be the only real religion. He described the event, when he was younger he had gone to church with a friend with no real interest. During the congregation he was filled by an unknown force which filled him with a sense of  ’coming home’ which led him towards the front to be baptised in a built-in pool in the church. For this statement, this sensation of ‘coming home’ I simply stated that I felt the same sensation when I invoked the Moon. His counter to this related to the fact I did not constantly feel the sensation, something he claimed he did. My response was two divide the spiritual sensation from the physical. When I feel it, I am purposely in a spiritual mindset and sensitive to those sensations. Any other time I am fully in the physical and therefore only feel physical sensations. It took a few tries to actually relate this in a way he could understand, since apparently he believed that the spiritual and physical were one and the same.

The second main topic revolved around morals oddly enough. He spoke about the bible verses that ‘God’ says to Moses about worshiping only him, and not ‘false idols’. What exactly makes another God a false idol though? I felt the same sensation he described, my prayers are answered same as his only my method of ‘praying’ is more complex and detailed than his. Where I stand within a circle and call upon multiple entities, he only falls to his knees, clasps his hands, and begins to speak. His response was the same fall back answer to any argument of this nature with a Christian/Catholic. “There is only one God.” It proved slightly difficult to lead him away from this simple mindset, I had to resort to bringing up Greek and Roman beliefs, as well as a few things from the New Testament. The ‘Unknown God’ found in Egyptian and Greek temples being more of a sign of respect for ALL unknown Gods, not the specific Abrahamic Jehovah God he worshipped.

We lasted some time on this, making up the major bulk of the argument until he switched topics to asking me questions about Wicca.

I answered honestly enough, related the wiccan rede “Aint it harm none, do what ye will” and so on and so forth. I described the Lady and how the Moon was her symbol not actually her. I described the Lord and the history of the Horned God which in today’s society is known as the Devil. I moved on to describe the relations between the Christian holidays and the Pagan holidays and how the Pagan ones outdated the Christian ones. I even went so far as to state the similarities between sermons in catholic churches. The chalice, the alter, the robe, the cloth, and the symbols.

He did throw me off though by stating that Lucifer’s angels who knew God’s doctrines spoke them to man in a twisted sense so Man would worship demons instead of God himself. This, added with the wiccan rede, is where I believed I won this argument. I asked him which of the two groups of fallen angels actually did this? The one stated in Genesis, or the one which directly led to the cause of the flood not stated in the bible, but instead stated in the Book of Enoch? The prophet which described in detail the kingdom of Heaven?

He showed no real knowledge of this text, and that is when I discovered that this distant cousin of mine who has been a pastor for over 40 years only knew of the bibles contents and nothing from any other books. Even those written by Paul or John not added to the bible, or the dead sea scrolls. A shift appeared over his face and he pulled back, turning to my father and told him that the religion was safe even if it were not of God. I think I hurt his pride in the sense that me, a teenager of 15 years old knew more of his religion than he himself!

All of that is mere observations on my part. I’ll say this though, even though I am not a wiccan at the moment, there isn’t any real difference between Satanism and Wicca in itself. Yes, Satanism has a ‘dark’ feel to it, just by its name alone but in ever major religion (Such as the Church of Satan, Temple of Set) they state in the very beginning that they do not associate themselves with anyone whom breaks the law no matter how big or small. This is not to say that those within these groups have never done or do not do criminal activities, I am not an expert on their inner mechanics to know. Though, be aware that figureheads within the church aren’t exactly keen on kicking out their own to stand trail for the occasional child molestation or bribery.

This is a statement, for any to read before they begin to question me or my beliefs. I, do not affiliate or personally perform, criminal activity of any sort outside of the norm. I may litter every now and then, or jaywalk but who doesn’t? I do not, however, vandalize churches, kidnap babies for sacrifice, steal, or disrespect people around me. I am a law abiding citizen, just like all of you. I have the same issues, the same frustrations, and me being a satanist does not change me anymore than it should change a Buddhist or Taoist.

If anything, I have a strong belief this entire stereotype genre should be stopped. I am not evil! Neither I, nor anyone else that I’ve ever met are evil. Sure we have some outlandish beliefs and rebellious by nature, but does that make us necessarily evil? Before anyone makes a claim on another being of a negative aspect, actually find out information about said being from a correct source. Why should I study cats when I wish to learn about dogs? If I state that I am apart from the Christian mythology, then don’t pick up a bible to learn about my religion. The Satanic bible will probably tell you more than the Christian one, and I only partially follow that one.

Most people know of Katherine Paterson, author of the book “Bridge to Terabithia”, (For those that haven’t please go here). Those of you that have read it, will find this article amusing if not outright surprising. In the article I have linked (Just click the first ‘Here’), a man under the name Henry Stewart claims Katherine Paterson to be a satanist. The reasons he describes are not only highly exagerated, but on a completely strict Christian point of view. (Hopefully by now most of you know that those that use the title Satanist are divided and seperate from Christian mythology.)

The only thing I can say on this, is if Satanists are supposed to be the ‘bad’ guy’s, why are the ‘good’ guy’s bad talking us?
